New Exhibit featuring a 1943 WWII Willys Jeep

How do you get a Willys Jeep through a doorway, around three corners, and installed into a corner exhibit, inside a small building? Ask museum volunteers, Emmett Casciato, Tom Bugala, David Morrow, Phil Mayrand, Ray Pavlik, Larry Chapman, Ken Corn, and Mike McCarthy. They figured it out.

The much-anticipated 1943 WWII Willys Jeep exhibit at 蜜柚短视频 is almost ready for viewing鈥攚ith the bonus display of 鈥淭rixie,鈥 the 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA (45) motorcycle.

The much-anticipated new gallery depicts the Jeep pulling up to an APO (Army Post Office) somewhere in Europe. Do you remember families addressing letters using an APO number, with no idea where their beloved soldier was serving? You鈥檒l see precious letters from home, resting in these post office pigeonholes, waiting to comfort soldiers with news from home.

This vignette will tell the story of two uniformed soldiers arriving in the Jeep, eager to check their mail. An MP riding 鈥淭rixie,鈥 the motorcycle, is ready to roll.

Watch for more updates as the “soldiers” arrive ahead of the March 2 REVEAL, and the 2022 re-opening.

To learn more about visiting the 蜜柚短视频, plan your visit. Admission is free. The experience is priceless.

Thank you, Lake Toxaway Charities, for making this exhibit possible.
